Resurrection??

My friend, Mike, emailed this sermon to me and I just wanted to post it for all of you. Hope you are built up by this.

Question : What does the resurrection of Jesus mean to me?????

ANSWER: That HE is ALIVE TODAY!!!!! Right here, right now, with me. This is why we MUST do everything for the Glory of Christ our Lord.

What does this mean to us? Paul says in Romans 6:8 : "Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him." So if you know you are going to live forever, how will this change your thinking?

If you know you are going to live forever:

1. You are not going to worry frantically or excessively about your health. Not to say you shouldnt look after yourself, eat healthy, or exercise - for our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit - But you will not be crazy with fear about remaining healthy. You will not be overly concerned with aging, or fear disease, or even death. For after this life, we shall receive a heavenly body, that WILL live forever.

2. You will not grieve the death of Loved ones, as those who have no hope. You will have hope that in the coming of our Lord Jesus you shall meet them again.
3. You will endure troubles with Patience. James says "Consider it pure joy my brothers whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverence. Perseverence must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything."

4. You will resist temptation. You will not strive to gain for yourself all your earthly desires. You will refuse the temptation because you are looking forward to walking on streets paved with Gold.

5. You wont be desparate to enjoy yourself NOW. You wont measure your lives by the pleasure you endulge in. Whether that is a: vacation, new clothes, partying, or anything done out of vain conceit or selfish ambition. Remember, the best is yet to be.

6. Give yourselves FULLY to the work of the Lord. Seek first HIS kingdom and HIS righteousness, and all these shall be added unto you. You will want to serve Him and to give yourselves as living sacrifices unto Him.

Wealth

Subject: wealth

One day a father of a very wealthy family took his son on a trip to the country with the firm purpose of showing his son how poor people live. They spent a couple of days and nights on the farm of what would be considered a very poor family. On their return from their trip, the father asked his son, "How was the trip?"

" It was great, Dad."

"Did you see how poor people live?" the father asked.

"Oh yeah," said the son.

"So, tell me, what did you learn from the trip?" asked the father.

The son answered: "I saw that we have one dog and they had four. We have a pool that reaches to the middle of our garden and they have a creek that has no end. We have imported lanterns in our garden and they have the stars at night. Our patio reaches to the front yard and they have the whole horizon. We have a small piece of land to live on and they have fields that go beyond our sight. We have servants who serve us, but they serve others. We buy our food, but they grow theirs. We have walls around our property to protect us, they have friends to protect them."

The boy's father was speechless.

Then his son added, "Thanks, Dad, for showing me how poor we are."

Isn't perspective a wonderful thing?

Makes you wonder what would happen if we all gave thanks for everything we have instead of worrying about what we don't have. Appreciate every single thing you have, especially your friends!
